On the Effect of Anti-Tumor Metabolites on Guanine Deaminase Activity in the Sarcoma-180 Ascites Cancer Cells in Vitro

Abstract
|
|
|
1) In the present paper, the author, utilizing the Sarcoma-180 ascites cancer cells innoculated into the abdominal cavity of mouse, investigated the effect of. anticancer metabolites, 6-mercapto-purine and 5-fluorouracil, on the gunaine deaminase activity of the cancer cells in vitro.
2) Both 6-MP and 5-FU drastically inhibit the activity of the guanine deaminase activity in the Sarcoma-180 ascites cells in vitro.
3) The anti-tumor metabolites also reduce the protein content in the ascites cells in virto, resulting in the markedly lowered level of the specific activity of the enzyme.
4) The anti-tumor metabolites, therefore, are suggested to exhibit their effects through the inhibition of guanine deaminase activity in addition to the various inhibitory sites known so far.
